Adorable Note to Tooth Fairy

posted in: Motherhood 4

PipPippi had to have a baby tooth pulled recently (on the bottom row). Another permanent tooth was pushing into it sideways. This caused considerable pain as the baby tooth was not ready to come out for a long time (huge root–see above pic). The pain was excruciating for Pip on a few occasions (pain killers wouldn’t touch it) so we decided it was best to pull the baby tooth, so the permanent tooth could straighten out.

She was very worried about the whole operation as she’s only ever had a teeth cleaning in her life; she’s never even had a cavity.  She brought a stuffed toy and fuzzy blanket with her to the dentist. She wept tears of fear in the waiting area. The dentist insisted I wait in the waiting room. Pip didn’t like that. I assured her they’d call me if she needed me.

As you can see in the above pic, she made it through. Her note to the tooth fairy was adorable. She spent the day before her surgery asking her school friends for advice about getting teeth pulled and thus, their concern and advice is the friend support she’s referring to in her letter.

I’ve retyped Pip’s tooth fairy letter below incase it is difficult to read in the picture:

Dear Tooth Fairy,

Can you please leave my tooth and still give me money? I have a tooth collection. It’s really special and this is my 5th tooth. I got it pulled out just today. It really hurt but I made it all the way through. My friends supported me all the way through. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Pippi

I still have the note Kathy wrote the tooth fairy when she was 7 or 8. In it she said thanks for the 25cents, but asks if she could have more next time. (Hey, it was 1968.)

    Penny-
That’s so cute! The problem is when they talk with their friends and wonder why the tooth fairy pays more for their friends’ teeth!
